Pastor Saeed Abedini Writes A Moving Christmas Letter From Iran Prison
Pastor Saeed Abedini wrote a moving letter from the Rajai Shahr Prison as he approaches his third Christmas as a prisoner of the Iranian government for his Christian faith.
He’s an American pastor from Idaho, but was seized while visiting family in Tehran, Iran in 2012. Since then, Pastor Saeed Abedini has endured many violent interrogations and is currently suffering from severe injuries as a result. He has been denied proper medical attention.
In the letter, he describes the conditions as “very hard, cold and shattering,” as he tells of the loneliness and despair during this Christmas season as a prisoner and away from his family. Amazingly, Pastor Saeed Abedini has not lost sight of the gospel throughout his suffering, and in the letter reminds Christians to never stop sharing the truth of Christmas:
“It may be that we will be called fools and traitors and face many difficulties, but we should crucify our will and wishes even more until the world hears and tastes the true meaning of Christmas.”
