352 || SHINE! With Gari & Ally—Ally’s Story: Abuse, Divorce, Hope

Gari Meacham‘s daughter Ally, of YouTube’s SHINE! With Gari & Ally, went from L.A. Lakers Dancer to NBA wife to broken single mom.

Though she had heard and believed the Gospel at a young age, she had never really claimed her own faith. She realized she needed to take ownership and publicly show that she believed the Gospel by being baptized, so during a fourth of July church service, she did.

“I felt my heart was going to explode from my chest,” says Ally. “It was from that moment everything started changing.”

Ally’s rejuvenated faith brought more trouble than she planned. She knew her marriage was in trouble, but she soon found out her husband had been unfaithful and it quickly became abusive. After a year of physical abuse, she left the marriage and began to trust God with her new life as a single mom with two children.

“I didn’t know what my life was going to look like,” says Ally. “But now I have the peace and the hope that only God can give.”

Now, Ally is sharing her story alongside her mom, Gari Meacham, through their YouTube channel, “SHINE! With Gari and Ally.” Gari Meacham has authored three books and speaks to a variety of live audiences as well as through the Gari Meacham Podcast.
